Tinubu swears- in two new ministers


President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore- in two ministers , Joseph Tegbe, Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The ceremony followed the resignation of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and former Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue elective positions ahead of the All Progressives Congress primary elections.
The two ministers were nominated by President Tinubu on May 5, 2026, and confirmed by the Senate the following day.
Enikanolaiye, a career diplomat with 35 years of service, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. He has held diplomatic postings in Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom and India, where he served as Nigeria’s Head of Mission before retirement.
Born in Kogi State, Enikanolaiye holds a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. He also received several national honours for public service.
Tegbe, from Oyo State, brings more than 35 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. He holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, an MBA from Switzerland and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Birmingham.
Before his appointment, Tegbe served as Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership. He also held leadership positions at KPMG Africa and worked with organisations including the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Shell, Huawei, General Electric and MTN.
The swearing-in marks the second set of ministerial replacements since the Federal Government directed ministers seeking elective offices to resign before party primaries.
President Tinubu initially inaugurated a 45-member Federal Executive Council on August 21, 2023. Since then, his administration has carried out multiple cabinet reshuffles, replacements and portfolio changes.
