NDC dismisses Enugu primary results, says no official announcement yet

National leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as fake and unauthorised the various lists of purported winners of its Enugu State primary elections circulating on social media, saying that no official results have been released.

The National Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Ikenna Morgan, said the party successfully conducted its primary elections across Enugu State on Friday, May 29, 2026, for all elective positions, including the presidency, governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.
Addressing journalists in Enugu on Saturday, Morgan said the exercise was conducted through direct primaries, allowing eligible party members to vote for candidates of their choice.
According to him, the process complied with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution and was supervised by the party’s National Electoral Committee from Abuja, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitoring the exercise.
“The exercise was orderly, transparent and conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the constitution of our great party. It was a direct primary in which every eligible member of the party voted for their preferred candidate,” he said.
Morgan noted that although vote collation and verification had been completed, the official results remained with the appropriate party authorities and would only be announced through recognised constitutional channels.
He warned aspirants, party members and the public against relying on unofficial results being circulated on social media and other unverified platforms.
“The results of the primary elections have been duly collated by the party. However, contrary to several reports circulating online, no official announcement has yet been made by the National Electoral Committee or the national leadership of the party.
“Any individual or platform claiming to possess or announce official results is acting without authorisation,” Morgan stated.
The NDC scribe assured all aspirants of fairness, transparency and due process, stressing that the names of successful candidates would be formally transmitted to INEC only after the completion of internal administrative procedures and ratification processes

He urged party faithful and the general public to await official communication from the party leadership, maintaining that all constitutional requirements would be followed before the declaration of winners.
