Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Pastor Beloved-Dan Anike, has reiterated his local government ‘s support to the Governor of Enugu state,Dr Peter Mbah, expressing the confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will record victory in Enugu State in the 2027 elections.
Anike, who spoke during an interview with Newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday, , said the people of Enugu remained loyal to Governor Mbah because of what he described as the administration’s visible achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, transportation and security.
He added that the popularity and performance of Governor Peter Mbah, rather than party affiliation, would determine the outcome of the polls
According to him, political parties are merely vehicles for contesting elections, while the electorate ultimately vote based on performance.
“Party might change, but the people do not change. We are still Enugu people canvassing for Enugu people. Democracy is about the people, not just political parties,” he said.

Anike on Tuesday, 14 July,2026, reiterated Enugu East Local Government’s support for Mbah, expresses confidence APC will win Enugu.
The council chairman maintained that Governor Mbah’s developmental strides had earned widespread acceptance across the state, adding that residents of Enugu East were ready to support him wherever he chose to contest.
“We have always said that wherever our governor goes, we will follow him. If he wears khaki, we will follow him. If he belongs to any political party, we will follow him because it is about leadership and delivery,” he stated.
Anike said that alignment with the ruling party at the federal level had already begun yielding dividends for Enugu, citing ongoing federal road projects and improved infrastructure.
He pointed to the progress on the long-delayed Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, saying work that had stagnated for over two decades had advanced significantly in recent years.
According to him, the reduction in airfares to and from Enugu was another indication of improved governance and infrastructure.
Speaking on his first term in office, the council chairman declined to rate his own performance, saying the people of Enugu East were in the best position to assess him.
He, however, acknowledged that not all his campaign promises had been fulfilled but assured residents that more projects would be delivered if re-elected.
He listed ongoing interventions to include additional primary healthcare centres, about 12 kilometres of roads, transformer distribution to communities and an expanded scholarship scheme aimed at supporting up to 1,000 students over time.
On security, Anike credited the state’s technology-driven security architecture for improving safety, recalling how a kidnapped teacher was rescued through intelligence provided by neighbourhood security operatives working with technology-based surveillance.
He urged residents to continue supporting Governor Mbah, saying the administration had demonstrated effective leadership.
“The people should continue to support the leader who is delivering. Governor Peter Mbah is delivering, and you don’t change a winning team,” Anike said.
