Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Giwa, on 14th April 2026, paid an unscheduled inspection of the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) Cell to assess the conditions at the detention facility.

He interacted with detainees and officers on duty, as well as reviewed the welfare and status of suspects in custody, including individuals being investigated for capital offences.
The CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID to ensure strict compliance with statutory procedures, humane treatment of suspects, and diligent management of all ongoing investigations.
He emphasized the need for timely and meticulous conclusion of investigations, in line with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, and stressed that all cases should be properly documented and expeditiously charged to court where appropriate.
According to the police public relations officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the inspection forms part of the ongoing efforts by the Command to strengthening and ensuring professionalism in investigative processes across the Command’s invesigative units.
