President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of governing board chairmen for the National Examination Council ( NECO) and that of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) with Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu as chairman of NECO and Prof. Babatunde Salako , chairman ,NBTE.
The appointments , announced on Wednesday in a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, are aimed at strengthening institutions under the Federal Ministry of Education.

Tinubu retained Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi as Registrar.
This follows the earlier reappointment of Prof. Idris Bugaje as Executive Secretary for a second and final five-year term.
In the polytechnic system, Tinubu appointed Dr. Bongfa Binfa as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State, for a single five-year tenure. He succeeds the pioneer rector, Dr. Mukaila Zakari Ya’u, whose tenure ended in March 2026.
Before his appointment, Binfa served as Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, and had previously lectured at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah.
The President also renewed the tenure of Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term.
Anunobi, first appointed in September 2021, has overseen key reforms, including the development of digital platforms such as the National Repository of Nigeria and the National Virtual Library.
According to the presidency, Adelabu brings extensive experience in educational administration, having previously served as Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and former NBTE chairman, while Salako is a former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research.
The renewal of Anunobi’s tenure, the statement added, will ensure continuity in ongoing reforms and support the completion of the National Library headquarters project in Abuja.
