MEDL blames Enugu power supply shortage on low generation, TCN load shedding

Mainpower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has attributed the current reduction in electricity supply across Enugu State to declining power generation and load shedding by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), assuring customers that it is working to ensure fair distribution of the limited energy available.

Head of Communications, MEDL, Emeka Ezeh disclosed this in a public notice made available to Newsmen on Monday, October 26,2026 in Enugu, explaining that the drop in energy generation had resulted in low system frequency, necessitating load shedding by TCN.

According to him, the development has reduced the volume of electricity allocated to the company, limiting its capacity to meet daily service-level commitments to customers across its network.

The company explained that the situation was beyond its immediate distribution capacity, as the available energy allocation had been affected by constraints in the national power supply system.

MEDL, assured residents that it was closely monitoring developments and would continue to distribute the available electricity fairly across its network while awaiting an improvement in generation.
The company expressed optimism that normal power supply would be restored soon, although it did not specify when the situation would improve.

While apologising for the inconvenience caused by the reduced electricity supply, MEDL appealed to customers for patience, understanding and continued cooperation as efforts continue to manage the available energy.
