Sen. Nnamani, Nwobodo, Chime, Ugwuanyi, Prof. Nnaji, Arthur Eze, Frank Nweke, others named to advisory roles; council to be inaugurated Tuesday
Governor of Enugu state, Dr Peter Mbah will lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign team in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party unveiling a broad-based campaign council comprising 51 directorates and prominent political leaders drawn from across the state and beyond.
The campaign council, unveiled on Monday by the Enugu State APC leadership, places Mbah at the helm as Chairman, with Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Uchenna Ugwu, and state party chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, serving as vice chairmen.
The council brings together serving and former public office holders, party leaders, professionals and other stakeholders, with former governors, senators and prominent political figures listed for advisory roles, while several party chieftains and government officials will oversee the council’s 51 directorates.
Chief Charlie Mbah has been appointed Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, while Dr. Eric Oluedo will serve as Secretary-General.
The three deputy directors-general are Deacon Okey Ogbodo for Enugu East Senatorial District, Dr. Dan Shere for Enugu North and Hon. S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye for Enugu West.
Steve Oruruo will serve as campaign spokesperson and Director of the Public Communication Committee, with Dr. Austin Okolie as co-spokesperson and Dr. Malachy Agbo as secretary.
The media and communications structure has Mazi Uche Anichukwu as head of the Directorate of New Media and Strategic Communication, with Dr. Collins Ogbu as secretary. Dan Nwomeh will head the Directorate of Mainstream Media, with Dr. Reuben Onyishi as secretary.
Other key appointments include Barr. Victor Udeh as Director of Administration and Dr. Ben Nwoye and Arc. Uche Nwatu as Director and Co-Director of the Fundraising Committee, respectively.
Former Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla (rtd.), will chair the Security Directorate, while former Inspector-General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo (rtd.), will serve as its secretary.
The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology will oversee the Directorate of Government Appointees Coordination (Federal and State), with Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, as secretary.
Former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh, has been named head of the Directorate of Inter-Party Affairs.
The campaign council’s senatorial district coordination will be handled by Senator Osita Ngwu for Enugu West, Senator Ikeje Asogwa for Enugu North and Senator Kelvin Chukwu for Enugu East.
In a joint statement announcing the appointments, the APC State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, and the party’s Secretary, Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie, said the extensive structure was designed to ensure that all segments of the party and the wider society were represented in the campaign.
They said the council’s composition reflected the party’s conviction that every community, ward, local government area, professional group, support organisation, youth body, women’s group, elder, party faithful and person of goodwill must be recognised and meaningfully engaged.
According to the party leaders, appointments to the campaign structure should not be regarded merely as honours but as calls to duty, accountability and measurable contributions to the party’s electoral efforts.
The council is scheduled for inauguration on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu. All members have been directed to be seated before 3 p.m.
