Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has directed hotels, event centres to deny access to factions of political parties not recognized by the Independent National Electorial Commission (INEC) warning that violators could face revocation of their property titles.
The directive, issued on Friday through the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, warned that property owners who fail to comply risk having their title documents revoked.
According to the FCTA, operators of event centres and hotels must ensure they deal only with the leadership of political parties officially recognized by INEC and maintain proper records of all transactions involving political groups.
The administration said the measure is aimed at safeguarding peace and security in the Federal Capital Territory, stressing that facilities would be monitored to prevent gatherings capable of disrupting public order.
The directive comes amid growing leadership disputes within several political parties ahead of the 2027 elections. Parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party are currently grappling with factional crises and court battles over legitimate leadership, with INEC recognition emerging as a key determinant in the disputes.
The FCTA maintained that compliance with the directive is mandatory, reiterating that any venue found hosting unrecognized political factions could face severe sanctions, including revocation of land titles.
