Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have killed two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition during an operation in Kebbi State.
The operation was carried out on June 27, 2026, in the Sabarumawa area after troops received credible intelligence that the suspects were planning an attack on the community.
According to the Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 were deployed and laid a tactical ambush along a route believed to be used by the terrorists.
Danja said the troops engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle as they approached the ambush position, killing two of them while others escaped into the surrounding forest.
A follow-up search led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle abandoned by the fleeing suspects.
He said the operation was part of ongoing offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and denying criminal groups freedom of operation across the North-West.
Danja reaffirmed the commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma to protecting lives and property through sustained military operations and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
Operation Fansan Yamma is a joint military operation established to combat terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes across Nigeria’s North-West. Troops have recently intensified intelligence-driven operations against Lakurawa terrorists and other armed groups in Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara and neighbouring states to improve security in the region.
