Idodo zone lends Gov Mbah for 2nd tenure, donates N50m for Campaign.

……As Mbah attributes widespread support to the values instilled in him by his community.


People of Idodo Zone of Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu state , Saturday, held a grand reception in honour of their son and state Governor,Dr Peter Mbah, endorsing him for a second term in office and donating N50 million towards his re-election campaign, describing his administration as transformational and evidence-driven.

The people accepted the Governor ‘s request to be released to serve again, the people of Enugu state who have endorsed him.for a second tenure.


Speaking during the civic reception held at the Amankanu Development Area Secretariat, Idodo Court, Governor Mbah said the growing wave of endorsements across Enugu State reflected the people’s confidence in his administration’s performance.
“I was told that this was a homecoming and I was coming home to my roots. What I wasn’t expecting was a rally. I thought we had already organised the rally that was held by Nkanu Land last Saturday.
“What I was coming home to do was to give an account of what had happened in the last two months. Instead, I have been confronted with an overwhelming show of love.”
The governor described the reception as a genuine and organic expression of support from the people.
“The love is palpable. I can feel it. I can touch it. I have no doubt as to where this is flowing from. It is flowing from the depth of affection and the depth of love you have for me,” he said.
Mbah disclosed that all three senatorial zones of the state had already endorsed his administration, citing endorsements from Enugu East, Enugu West and Nsukka zones.

“What I have come here today to simply do is to have a conversation with family.
“I was coming to explain to you that we have been endorsed by Enugu East. We have also been endorsed by Enugu West. Our brothers in the northern flank, the Nsukka Zone, have also endorsed us.
“And just when we thought the endorsements were enough, we then had a tsunami last Saturday, what many referred to as the mother of all rallies.”
He attributed the widespread support to the values instilled in him by his community.
“My mission here today was to inform you that the values you deposited in me as your son — humility, integrity, hard work, faith and care for others — have paid off.”
In a direct reference to calls for him to seek another term in office, the governor said the people of Enugu had asked him to continue serving the state.

“I am here to inform you that the people of Enugu State have asked me to continue in the service of our state.”
Seeking the consent of his kinsmen, Mbah asked: “Are you willing to lend me to Enugu State for another four years?” to which the crowd responded affirmatively.
“I am going to inform the people of Enugu that you have also endorsed me to serve them for another four years,” he added.
Earlier, Chairman of the Idodo Zone Stakeholders Committee, Osinachi Nnajieze, formally endorsed the governor’s administration, describing his three-year stewardship as unprecedented in the state’s history.
“In three short years, Enugu’s profile as a subnational and regional capital has risen astronomically, and that rise is no accident. It is the fruit of carefully calibrated and deeply strategic thinking by our son, Governor Peter Mbah,” Nnajieze said.
He highlighted achievements in road infrastructure, Smart Green Schools, Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, transport terminals, Enugu Air, security surveillance systems, agriculture, tourism, industrialisation and urban renewal.
According to him, projects directly impacting Idodo Zone include the Amechi-Idodo-Oruku-Amagunze Road, the Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Neke-Ikem Dual Carriageway, Smart Green Schools, healthcare facilities, the proposed Idodo City Market and other industrial investments.


Declaring support for Mbah’s re-election, Nnajieze said:
“You have made our campaign for a second term easy. We are not going into this quest begging or asking people for what we have not earned.
“We are going in with a far superior, evidence-based argument , your works themselves are our campaign.”

Prominent sons and daughters of the zone which included the former Minister of Power Barth Nnaji, Chairman , Enugu state Tourism Board, Rita Mbah, the former chairman of Nkanu East ,Pastor Sam Iyiogwe, spoke at the event highlighting Governor Mbah’s developmental strides in the state and endorsing him for a second tenure.
The event attracted the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, former Deputy Governors of Enugu state, Dr Sunday Onyebuchi, political leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, women and youth groups, community stakeholders and supporters .

Highlight of the event was presentation of “Ofor” , a symbol of authority to the Governor.
