Gov Mbah lauds Rangers’ for wining 9th NPFL title, says Flying Antelopes walked the Path of Legends

Governor Peter Mbah has congratulated Rangers International F.C. on clinching the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, their ninth league crown and second under his administration, describing the feat as a legendary achievement that restored Enugu’s pride as a hub of champions.

Rangers secured the title on Sunday after defeating Ikorodu City Football Club 2–1 at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos to finish the season with 68 points, one point ahead of Rivers United, which defeated Katsina United 3-0 in Port Harcourt.

Reacting to the victory, Governor Mbah said the players and management of the club had once again made Enugu State proud by reenacting the heroics of Rangers legends.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Enugu State, I convey our profound congratulations to you on your well-deserved and hard-fought ninth league title, the second under our administration,” the governor stated.
“You have not only brought back the title, which you won in the 2023/2024 season, but also restored the glory of Enugu as the incubator and hub of champions.
“You have reenacted the heroics of Rangers of old and walked the path of our revered legends,” he added.
Mbah noted that the triumph reflected the positive impact of his administration’s investments in sports development and the Rangers franchise.
He further described the title win as a morale booster ahead of the 27th National Sports Festival, which Enugu State is billed to host in November this year.
The latest triumph further cements Rangers’ status as one of Nigeria’s most successful football clubs and rekindles memories of the club’s glorious past in Nigerian football.
