Bauchi State Government has commenced the distribution of sacrificial animals to vulnerable families and groups across the state as part of preparations for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Speaking during the inauguration of the distribution exercise in Bauchi on Saturday, the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, said the initiative was aimed at enabling beneficiaries to celebrate the Sallah festivities in comfort and happiness.
Hammayo explained that the rams would be distributed to vulnerable persons, community groups, political and traditional leaders, security agencies, and other segments of society.
According to him, the Eid season symbolises sacrifice, unity, compassion, and communal support, stressing that the exercise would help strengthen social harmony among residents.
“It is a period for communities to come together and share in the blessings of the celebration,” he said
The SSG further disclosed that Governor Bala Mohammed directed the distribution committee to source the animals from local markets across the state in order to support livestock traders and animal rearers.
He noted that the gesture would not only assist vulnerable citizens but also boost local businesses, improve livelihoods, and enhance wealth creation within the state.
Hammayo described the initiative as a reflection of the governor’s compassionate and people-oriented leadership style, adding that the administration remained committed to the welfare of the people.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Budget and Humanitarian Affairs, Amina Katagum, commended the initiative, saying it would positively impact the social and economic well-being of residents across the state.
The distribution exercise is part of the state government’s annual support programme for citizens during major religious festivities.
