Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has announced vacancies for academic staff positions at the ranks of Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I, Lecturer II and Assistant Lecturer, inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.
The university disclosed this in a recruitment notice signed by its Registrar, Ambrose Ugwu, and made available to Newsmen on Friday, in Enugu. He stated that the application window would remain open for two weeks and close on October 19, 2026.
The vacancies cut across the Faculties of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural and Natural Resources, Law, Social Sciences and Humanities, including Psychology and Sociology, and Environmental Sciences.
Positions are also available in the departments of Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Software Engineering, and Intelligence/Security Studies.
According to the notice, candidates applying for the positions of Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I and Lecturer II must possess a good first degree with at least a Second-Class Upper Division, a relevant master’s degree and a PhD in their respective disciplines from recognised universities.
Applicants are also required to provide evidence of scholarly publications in reputable indexed journals, registration with relevant professional regulatory bodies where applicable, and proof of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme or an exemption certificate.
Other requirements include a sworn declaration of age or birth certificate and local government identification.
For the position of Professor, candidates must have at least 12 years of relevant teaching, research and administrative experience in a recognised university, including a minimum of two years as a Reader or Associate Professor.
They must also have served as a dean, head of department or director, or been a member of a university committee.
Applicants for Senior Lecturer must possess at least six years of relevant teaching, research and administrative experience, including two years as a Lecturer I. Previous service as an acting dean, acting head of department or director, or membership of a university committee, will be an added advantage.
For Lecturer I, candidates are expected to have at least three years of relevant teaching, research and administrative experience, including two years as a Lecturer II in a university.
They must also have at least eight scholarly publications in reputable indexed journals, with a minimum of two listing them as first-named or corresponding authors.
Candidates applying for Lecturer II are expected to demonstrate a good record of scholarly publications, which the university listed as an added advantage.
For Assistant Lecturer, applicants must possess a first degree and a master’s degree, with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.50 on a five-point scale.
A good record of scholarly publications and registration with relevant professional bodies, where applicable, will also be an added advantage.
The Registrar directed interested candidates to submit their applications to the Registrar’s Office, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT Ebeano, Enugu, Enugu State, on or before October 19, 2026.
