Governor of Enugu state,Dr Peter Mbah has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, directing party members to base their campaigns on his administration’s achievements and the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s government.

The 51-directorate council, inaugurated on Tuesday at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, is chaired by Mbah, with Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly Uchenna Ugwu, APC Deputy National Chairman (South) Ben Nwoye, state party chairman Martin Chukwunweike and Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, serving as vice chairmen.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Mbah said his administration had justified the mandate given to it in 2023, citing developments in infrastructure, education, healthcare and the business environment as evidence of progress.

He urged APC members to campaign vigorously on the administration’s record, declaring that the party should be identified with its achievements rather than propaganda.

The governor also called on party members to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid, arguing that the Federal Government’s economic reforms had increased resources available to states and enabled his administration to execute projects on a larger scale.

According to Mbah, his administration’s development agenda could not have been implemented without the additional financial resources accruing to states following the President’s policies.

“You should be proud of Enugu. You should be unapologetically APC,” the governor said, urging party faithful to take their message to communities across the state.

Mbah disclosed that he planned to visit all 68 development centres in Enugu State as part of the campaign, adding that he would also visit markets and commission projects across the state’s 260 political wards.

He specifically mentioned Smart Green Schools and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres as projects to be showcased during the visits, alongside other completed interventions.

The governor cited the 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index, which he said ranked Enugu as the fastest-improving state among the 33 states assessed, with a momentum score of +1.15.

He also referred to the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council’s report, which, according to him, showed that Enugu had moved from 36th position out of 37 subnational entities in 2023 to sixth nationally in 2025 in ease of doing business.

Mbah further highlighted infrastructure projects and other interventions by the Tinubu administration in the South-East, particularly Enugu State, saying the President had demonstrated commitment to the region despite its limited electoral support for him in the 2023 presidential election.

He urged the campaign council to communicate the benefits of the Federal Government’s policies to residents while highlighting the state government’s projects and programmes.
