A women-led grassroots mobilisation group, the 260 Legacy Solidarity has pledged its support for the development agenda of the Enugu East Local Government Area, promising to deepen political sensitisation, community mobilisation and women’s participation in leadership.
The group made the commitment when its delegation, led by its Founder and Grand Convener, Dr. Stephanie Amaka Ngene, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Pst. Beloved-Dan Anike.
Dr. Ngene said the visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the organisation and the council administration while identifying areas of partnership that would improve the lives of residents.
She described 260 Legacy Solidarity as a women-driven grassroots movement established to promote meaningful participation, empowerment, political awareness and sustainable community development.
According to her, women have a critical role to play in strengthening communities and supporting leadership initiatives that are geared towards improving the wellbeing of citizens.
She assured the council chairman of the group’s readiness to support progressive programmes and initiatives in Enugu East, Enugu State and Nigeria.
Responding, Anike commended the delegation for its grassroots mobilisation and political sensitisation efforts, describing the initiative as important to strengthening citizens’ participation in governance.
The chairman pledged his administration’s support and cooperation with the group, saying collaboration with organised grassroots stakeholders was essential to achieving sustainable development.
He also highlighted some of his administration’s projects and programmes in education, healthcare, road infrastructure and social welfare, aimed at improving the quality of life of residents across Enugu East Local Government Area.
The chairman’s engagement with the women ended with a renewed commitment by both sides to strengthen collaboration, promote unity and support development initiatives that would have a direct impact on the people.
