People of the Enugu West Senatorial on Saturday, affirmed support for the re-election of the Enugu State Governor , Dr Peter Mbah, donating a sum of ₦100 million for purchase of his nomination form.
The people of the zone also affirmed support for a second term bid of President Bola Tinubu.

Gov Mbah acknowledging cheers from supportters
At a rally held at the Awgu Local Government Secretariat field, thousands of supporters converged to affirm their confidence in the leadership of both leaders , citing visible achievements, impactful policies, and people-oriented programmes across the country and Enugu State in particular.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a cheque of ₦100 million to the governor, a move the zone said , underscored its commitment to ensuring his return to office in 2027.
Leading the endorsement, the Senator representing Enugu West, Senator Osita Ngwu, said the decision was driven by tangible results rather than political sentiments.
He listed key developments in the state, including improved security infrastructure through the establishment of a Command and Control Centre, the establishment of Smart Schools across wards, upgraded Type-2 healthcare centres, and major road projects that have significantly reduced travel time within the zone.

“At the national level, we have also seen the transformational impact of the President. Enugu State is benefiting from being connected to the centre. These are not promises but realities,” Ngwu stated.
Also lending their voices, former Chief of Naval Staff, Allison Madueke, and former Military Administrator of Gombe State, Joseph Orji, aligned with the position of the people, urging both leaders to sustain the pace of development.
Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, cautioned Nigerians against politicians promising to serve only one term, describing such pledges as deceptive.
“Some people tell lies with confidence. They will not keep such promises. You already have a leader with integrity and performance. He is ready to continue delivering,” Nnamani said.

Addressing the crowd, Governor Mbah described the rally as unprecedented and thanked the people for standing firmly for equity, justice, and strategic leadership.
He highlighted ongoing economic and infrastructural reforms under President Tinubu, including efforts to stabilise foreign exchange, reduce inflation, and grow foreign reserves beyond $50 billion, noting that such policies have enabled subnational governments to execute large-scale projects.

Governor Mbah assured the people that he would continue to justify their confidence and deliver more dividends of democracy, expressing optimism that Tinubu’s administration would sustain its reform trajectory.
The endorsement motions were formally moved and seconded by key political figures across the zone, including members of the National Assembly and the Enugu State House of Assembly, with widespread support from traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and community leaders across the five local government areas of Enugu West zone, Ezeagu, Udi,Oji-River, Awgu and Aninri
