Enugu State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ben Osy Okoh, , has highlighted the strategic importance of the on-going construction of the Tanker Park along the Enugu–Abakaliki Expressway, describing it as an important intervention to improve road safety, traffic management and tanker operations along the corridor.
He stated this during an inspection of key on-going projects across Enugu State. He explained that the Tanker Park is designed to provide a safe and organised facility for tanker operators, reducing indiscriminate parking along the expressway and the attendant risks to motorists and other road users.
Thr Public relations officer of the ministry,Ngozi Ngene in a statement made available to Newsmen on Thursday, September 3,2026 in Enugu said, the Commissioner disclosed that the facility will include a motel, restaurant and other support amenities where drivers can rest, eat and sleep, particularly when they arrive late or are unable to safely continue their journeys. He noted that providing a dedicated resting facility would help address driver fatigue and reduce overnight parking along the expressway.

According to the statement, the project will also contribute to improved traffic flow, protect road infrastructure and create economic opportunities through accommodation, food services, vehicle maintenance and other businesses supporting tanker operations.
Engr. Okoh said the Tanker Park forms part of the broader infrastructure development agenda of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to reposition Enugu State through strategic investments that support economic growth and improve the movement of people and goods.
He added that the Ministry would continue to closely supervise ongoing projects across the state to ensure quality workmanship, timely delivery and value for public resources.
“Across all our project sites, our emphasis remains the same: quality, timely delivery and infrastructure that responds to the needs of our people and supports the economic transformation of Enugu State,” the Commissioner said.
