Army raid arm -making factory in Plateau arrest suspects

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have uncovered a gun-making factory in Plateau State, arresting suspects and recovering rifles and equipment used for producing illegal weapons.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the operation took place around 5:00 pm on Wednesday at Gwandanu Village in Langtang North Local Government Area, where the suspects were caught fabricating sophisticated firearms.

Describing the raid as a major breakthrough, the military said it delivered a heavy blow to the spread of illegal arms and the operations of criminal networks.
Recovered items include two AK-47 rifles and one G3 rifle, as well as industrial tools such as generating sets, a welding machine, a drilling machine, a hand filler, and a technical toolbox used for weapon production.
In a related operation in Kaduna State, troops stationed at Gidan Waya in Jema’a Local Government Area had swiftly responded to an attack on Forest Guards and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
The attackers fled towards the Jaginde Forest axis upon sighting advancing troops, abandoning a motorcycle in their escape. One suspect was later arrested.
A follow-up search of the hideout led to the recovery of additional weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, an AK-49 rifle, a motorcycle, and a sleeping mat.
The military confirmed that all suspects are in custody and undergoing investigation to uncover the full extent of their operations and any links to wider criminal syndicates, urging citizens to provide timely intelligence to support ongoing security efforts.
