Enugu Police Command sensitizes ESUT students on cultism, social vices
Addressing the students, the police spokesperson said every undergraduate begins university with dreams of success, but those aspirations are shaped by the choices they make.
He warned that cultism, examination malpractice, cybercrime, drug abuse and other social vices, often presented as shortcuts to success, ultimately result in academic failure, damaged reputations, criminal prosecution and, in some cases, loss of lives and promising careers.
Ndukwe advised students to choose their friends wisely, resist peer pressure and uphold integrity, reminding them that “today’s choices become tomorrow’s consequences.”
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Enugu State Police Command under Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa to sustaining its partnership with ESUT in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
The police spokesman further encouraged students to remain vigilant, obey the law and promptly report suspicious persons or criminal activities within and around the university community.
The inauguration ceremony was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor of ESUT, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, and was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Chike Nwoha, the Provost, Registrar, University Librarian, Dean of Students Affairs, other principal officers, former SUG leaders and students.
