…As Primary election committee hails Enugu APC
Governor of Enugu state, Dr Peter Mbah has formally been declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election in Enugu State
Mbah, who was returned unopposed at the party’s governorship primary, addressed party faithful at the International Conference Centre on Friday after the Hon. Danmalikin Hausa-led primary election committee declared him winner following the collation of results from the state’s 260 wards.
According to the committee, 397,370 accredited APC members participated in the exercise conducted across the state on Thursday.
In his acceptance speech, the governor expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence reposed in him, stressing that he never took the nomination for granted.
“This moment is not one I take for granted. For me, there was never a sense of entitlement. I accept this nomination with full awareness of the expectations that come with it, buoyed by the knowledge that it’s not an unfamiliar path for me,” he said.

Mbah stated that his administration had disproved the belief that campaign promises were mere political rhetoric, insisting that the government’s “Tomorrow Is Here” philosophy had become evident in the lives of residents.
“What once felt distant – that tomorrow could be different – is no longer abstract. It is taking shape.
“It is visible in the routines of daily life, in how people travel, how they work, and how they now access services that were once unreliable or out of reach.
“We have smashed the notion that promises matter more than performance.
Every naira spent has been made to give the people of Enugu a return on their investment of trust and faith,” he stated.
The governor reeled out achievements recorded by his administration in security, healthcare, education, transportation, agriculture and industrialisation.

He noted that the establishment of a Command and Control Centre and other security infrastructure had restored public confidence in safety across the state, adding that residents could now go about their activities without fear.
On education, Mbah said the administration’s Smart Green Schools initiative was repositioning learning to meet global standards, while the establishment of Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres in all the 260 wards had improved access to quality healthcare.
The governor also pointed to ongoing agricultural mechanisation, revival of moribund industries and expansion of transportation infrastructure as evidence of the state’s transformation agenda.
He cited the revitalisation of the Songhai Heneke Farm in Ezeagu, the revival of United Palm Products Limited and the establishment of the Enugu Haier Factory as projects creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.
Mbah further highlighted the launch of Enugu Air and ongoing investments in aviation infrastructure, saying the state was positioning itself as a regional economic hub.
“We have done over 1,500 kilometres of roads, launched five world-class transport terminals and introduced CNG buses to ensure that our people commute in dignity and comfort,” he added.
The governor also credited the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies that increased resources available to states for development projects.
Speaking, the Chairman of the primary election committee, Hon. Danmalikin Hausa, commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, describing the Enugu APC chapter as a model of internal democracy, discipline and consensus-building.
“Enugu State APC is a well-coordinated chapter where internal democracy, consensus-building, discipline, synergy and peace reign supreme. The whole exercise has been rancour-free and indeed a carnival of sorts,” he stated.
Hausa also commended President Tinubu and the APC national leadership under Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda for ensuring credible and peaceful primaries across the country.
