JAMB disowns viral 394 UTME score, warns against fake results

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB, has described as fake a widely circulated result slip claiming that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB described the result as a fabrication and urged Nigerians to disregard it.
The viral post, shared on social media platform X by a user identified as @Onsogbu, claimed that one Okon Winniefred Sampson recorded near-perfect scores across four subjects, sparking widespread reactions online.
Reacting, Benjamin expressed concern over the spread of what he termed “a blatant falsehood,” noting that the result did not originate from JAMB’s system.
“A purported result slip currently being circulated, claiming that a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 UTME, is entirely fake. It is surprising that such a fabrication is being shared by otherwise well-informed Nigerians,” he said.
He explained that UTME results are strictly view-only and are not issued in formats designed for sharing or printing, stressing that the circulating document clearly deviates from the Board’s official template.
“Firstly, the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only. The circulated document appears on a fabricated result template, which on its own is sufficient indication that it is not authentic,” he said.
The spokesperson further pointed out discrepancies in the registration number displayed on the fake slip, noting that it does not align with JAMB’s system-generated format.
“Secondly, the Board’s registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern seen on the fake slip. There are several inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent,” he said.
JAMB therefore advised candidates, parents, and the general public to rely solely on its official communication channels for accurate information regarding UTME results.
“The public is strongly advised to disregard this fake result and rely only on official channels for accurate information. All results at the moment are view-only,” he said.
