Enugu police command debunks alleged detention ,killing in SWAT

Enugu state Police Command has debunked the alleged of unlawful detention and killing in SWAT unit of the Command , urging members of the public to disregard the viral video on the allegation.

This wass contained in a statement tagged , “DISREGARD VIRAL VIDEO ON ALLEGED UNLAWFUL DETENTION, KILLING IN ENUGU SWAT’,” made available to Newsmen by the Command ‘s public relations officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Monday in Enugu .

The statement reads:

“The Enugu State Police Command is aware of a viral video alleging unlawful detention and killing of suspects in the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, Enugu. The Command categorically states that no such incident has occurred in any of its units.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the video is misleading, unverified, and deliberately intended to misinform the public and undermine confidence in the Police. The Command reiterates that all suspects in custody are treated in accordance with the law and with due respect for their fundamental human rights, with no record of extrajudicial killing or unlawful detention as alleged.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, urges the public to disregard the video and refrain from sharing Oop fear or eroding trust in law enforcement, while advising citizens to rely on official Police communication channels for accurate information.”

CP Giwa further reaffirms the Command’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law, and assures residents of its continued dedication to the protection of lives and property.
