FG declares Thursday , Friday, Public Holiday for Eid-il-Fitr Celebration

Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, signalling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.


The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced that in a statement made available to Newsmen on Tuesday through the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, in Abuja.t

The minister congratulated Muslim faithful across the country on the successful completion of the fasting period.
He urged Muslims to uphold and sustain the virtues imbibed during Ramadan, including love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice. He emphasized that these values are essential for strengthening unity and harmony in the country.

He also called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the peace, unity, and continued progress of the nation. He further encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend acts of kindness to the less privileged in society.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national cohesion, he noted that efforts would continue to promote peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
