Support Group inaugurates Ward Coordinators, vows to return  Gov Mbah in 2027

A socio-political support group, “Tomorrow Is Here Movement”, has inaugurated its ward coordinators in Enugu East Local Government Area, of Enugu state,  pledging  grassroots mobilisation to secure the re-election of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, in the 2027 general election.

Speaking at the event, held at the Peter Mbah Arena, Abakpa Nike, the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Pastor  Beloved-Dan Anike, described Enugu East as the “capital of grassroots mobilisation in Nigeria,” assuring the governor of overwhelming electoral support from the council area.

He  said Governor Mbah’s nearly three years in office had been defined by disruptive innovation, speed, and measurable results, citing the ongoing dualisation of the Abakpa–Ugwogo–Opi Road and Penoks–Ugwogo–Opi Road as projects that would reposition Enugu East into a 24-hour economic hub within the next year.

He also highlighted landmark initiatives of the administration, including the launch of Enugu Air, digitalisation of land administration to block revenue leakages, construction of over 260 smart green schools and primary healthcare centres, and the commencement of over 1,000 road projects within a single year.

Anike  added that Enugu East Local Government had complemented state programmes through free health insurance schemes, women empowerment initiatives, and sponsorship of youths for aviation training, noting that some beneficiaries are already gainfully employed by Enugu Air.

In his remarks, former Speaker,Enugu state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi charged members of the movement to consistently communicate the governor’s achievements to the grassroots, stating that Mbah’s performance had compelled him to publicly align with the administration, describing it as unprecedented in the state’s history.

Speaking also, a former chairman of Enugu East Local Government and  former member of the Federal House of Representatives ( Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency) Hon. Prince Cornelius Nnaji said the massive turnout at the event reflected the governor’s popularity and credibility. He urged  the coordinators to intensify grassroots sensitisation ahead of 2027. 

Nnaji reaffirmed  support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mbah in the next general election.

Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and State Leader of the Movement, Hon. Ezeani Ezenta, said the group had gained widespread acceptance across wards due to visible projects and empowerment programmes, adding that thousands of previously undecided residents had been mobilised in support of the governor.

Lawmakers representing Enugu East Urban and Enugu East Rural Constituencies, Hon. Osita Okoh and Hon. Raymond Ugwu, alongside the APC Caretaker Chairman of Enugu East LGA, Hon. Okey Igbokwe, commended the governor for prioritising the council area with landmark projects already transforming lives and infrastructure.

Former State Woman Leader, Hon. Peace Patrice, said the administration’s projects had become “personal projects of the people,” noting that they had renewed hope among women in both rural and urban communities and strengthened grassroots support for the government.

Inaugurating the ward coordinators, Leader of Tomorrow Is Here Movement, Hon. Tony Okonkwo, said Governor Mbah’s passion for development stemmed from genuine love for the people, citing urban renewal, aviation development, road infrastructure, smart transportation, and investments in education and healthcare as evidence of inclusive governance.

Responding on behalf of the coordinators, Hon. Okoro Tim pledged unwavering commitment to promoting the administration’s programmes at the grassroots, assuring that Enugu East would deliver massive electoral support for Governor Mbah in 2027.

The event attracted a large gathering of party faithful, community leaders, and political stakeholders from across Enugu East, who used the occasion to applaud the governor’s record of transformative governance.

Dignitaries at the event  included  former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Ubosi, and former member of the House of Representatives for Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, Hon. Cornelius Nnaji, both of whom described Governor Mbah’s administration as performance-driven and development-focused.
