Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah has approved the appointment of administrators, secretaries and members for Development Centres across the state, in a move to strengthening grassroots participation, inclusivity and community-driven development.
The appointments, contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on Monday, October 6, 2026, were intended to take governance closer to the people at the grassroot.
The appointees are expected to enhance the coordination of grassroots development initiatives, promote greater community engagement and responsiveness, and facilitate meaningful participation of the people in the implementation of the administration’s development agenda.
The appointments cover Development Centres across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, with each centre comprising of ten officials, which includes an administrator, secretary and members drawn from the communities within the respective areas.
The state government said the appointees were expected to bring their experience, commitment and understanding of their respective communities to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities.
They are also expected to work collaboratively with relevant government institutions and stakeholders to advance the development objectives of the state.
Governor Mbah congratulated the appointees and charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving with diligence, integrity, accountability and a strong sense of responsibility to the people of Enugu State.
