Asogwa flags-off Nsukka Local govt APC campaign, highlights Mbah administration’s Projects, assures consolidation

Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Hon. Jude Asogwa, has said the council is firmly behind Enugu state Governor, Dr Peter Mbah and the All Progressives Congress,APC, ahead of the 2027 election, highlighting Mbah’s and his administration’s projects and interventions across the area, assuring consolidation of the development of voted for second tenure..

He spoke on Friday at the flag-off of the APC campaign held at the Nsukka Stadium , Nsukka Local Government Area, where he highlighted the construction of a two-kilometre road, another 2.3-kilometre road and a 4.2-kilometre road nearing completion.

Asogwa also disclosed that 4,000 bags of fertiliser had been received for distribution across the wards, while measurements had recently been taken for several other roads, 30 Kms roads in the local government area

He said Nsukka had resolved to support the APC and Mbah in the 2027 election, I adding that the people were interested in continuity and development. He promised to consolidate his developmental projects, adding that, if voted for a second term, he would build on the progress already recorded in the council, focusing on human capital development, security, education,health infrastructure and citing of projects in each of the 20 wards of Nsukka Local Area among others.

He attributed his administration ‘s successes to the support t received from the state governor,Peter Mbah.

Speaking, the National Deputy Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Ben Nwoye, challenged opposition politicians in Enugu State to tell the people what they were actually opposing in Governor Mbah’s administration..

Nwoye highlighted governor Mbah’s projects in education, healthcare, roads, aviation and security, saying the initiatives had made the APC campaign easier because the people could see the impact of government directly in their communities.

He said the event attracted more than 10,000 people, describing the turnout as the biggest crowd he had seen at a local government campaign in the state.

Directing the question to opposition, he asked, “What are you opposing?” Listing the Enugu Air, 260 Smart Schools, Type-2 healthcare centres, the International Hospital, security infrastructure and the dualisation of the Ogbede-Nsukka Road among the projects delivered or being executed by the Mbah administration.

Nwoye also rejected claims by opposition figures that the Mbah administration had introduced new taxes in the state, arguing that the taxes being discussed had existed before the present administration.

He said taxation was a normal practice globally and maintained that the Federal Government’s tax reforms had provided relief for lower-income earners and small businesses through specified exemptions.

The APC chieftain further took aim at politicians seeking to challenge the established political arrangement in Enugu State, particularly those from Enugu East zone, the same senatorial zone as the incumbent governor.

According to him, although every Nigerian has a constitutional right to contest elections, Enugu has historically operated an unwritten zoning arrangement which political actors understand.

Nwoye described the emergence of several governorship candidates from the same zone as an “aberration,” arguing that the development amounted to an attempt to undermine the political understanding in the state.

He challenged those promising to achieve in four years to show what they intended to do that the present administration was not already doing.

Other speakers at the event included the Enugu North senatorial candidate, Senator Ikeje Asogwa; former Chairman of the Enugu State Peoples Democratic Party, Vita Abba; and the APC Woman Leader for the South-East Zone, Dr Oby Ajih, among others.

They urged the people to vote for the APC from top to bottom in the 2027 election.

The campaign attracted party leaders, traditional rulers, elected representatives, support groups, mobilisers and other stakeholders.

The Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Igwe Samuel Asadu, of Edem-Ani, who also spoke at the event, appealed to political leaders to provide a level playing field for all political parties and candidates during the campaign.

Asadu stressed that traditional rulers were non-partisan and should be allowed to maintain their neutrality throughout the political process.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of flags to the Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates by the APC ,Enugu state chairman,Dr Martin Chukwunweike.

Responding on behalf of other candidates, the chairmanship candidate,Hon Jude Asogwa, urged the people of Nsukka Local Government Area to vote for them, promising a consolidation of the achievements his administration recorded so far.
