Enugu State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ben lOsy Okoh, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Enugu State Government to the timely delivery of quality infrastructure across the state ,.
He gave the reassurance on Wednesday, August 12,2026, after his inspecting the ongoing remodelling and rehabilitation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and the Constitution Road project in Enugu.
In a statement made available to Newsmen, the Public Relations Officer
Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Ngozi MaryAnn Ngene, said Okoh inspected the stadium alongside the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu Jr., to assess the progress of work at the facility.
Commissioner for works and infrastructure,Ben Okoh( middle) during the inspection of the works at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium , Enugu on Wednesday, August 12,2026.
He expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction, describing the transformation taking place at the stadium as highly encouraging.
The Commissioner noted that the comprehensive upgrade of the stadium reflects the vision and commitment of the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to revitalising critical public infrastructure, advancing sports development and repositioning Enugu as a leading destination for sports, tourism, investment and economic growth.
As part of the ongoing works around the Stadium Main Bowl, Okoh disclosed that one carriageway of Ogui Road bordering the stadium has been temporarily closed and may be subject to intermittent closures as construction activities progress.
He appealed to motorists and other road users to cooperate with traffic management personnel, observe diversion signs and make use of alternative routes where necessary. He also expressed appreciation to residents and road users for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the construction period.
The Commissioner proceeded to Constitution Road project, where the stone base course has been completed. He expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded and assured residents that the Ministry would continue to closely monitor the project to ensure its timely completion and delivery.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to the delivery of critical infrastructure across Enugu State, noting that the ongoing projects form part of Governor Mbah’s broader vision to transform the state, improve the quality of life of residents and create an enabling environment for sustainable economic growth and development.
“The transformation we are witnessing across Enugu is a reflection of a government that is building deliberately for the future—one project at a time. Tomorrow is here,” the Commissioner stated.
