Tinubu reappoints NSCDC Comms- General for another five 5years

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has reappointed the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Dr Ahmed A bkubakar Audi for another five-year term.


The renewal, which took effect fom February 27, 2026, was announced in a statement made available to newsmen in on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information , ,Bayo Ononuga

He said the reappointment is aimed at strengthening the operations of the NSCDC in it”s role in safeguarding critical national assets and supporting internal security across the country..


Dr Audi, who was first appointed in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, completed his initial five-year tenure last Friday while participating in activities marking the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja.
The statement noted that the NSCDC boss will resume duties under a renewed mandate to reposition the organisation as security agencies intensify efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism nationwide.
President Tinubu also tasked the Commandant-General with improving the Corps’ effectiveness, particularly as the Nigeria Police Force refocuses on its core responsibility of protecting citizens and maintaining law and order.
Born on September 30, 1967, in Laminga Town of Nasarawa Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, Audi began his career in the NSCDC as a volunteer in November 1996 before rising through the ranks.
He holds a Teachers’ Grade II Certificate from Teachers’ College, Jengre, Plateau State; a Nigeria Certificate in Education from the College of Education, Akwanga; and a Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He also obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Calabar, a PhD in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University.
