Tinubu, others  urge unity as Lenten,  Ramadan commenced  same day

Nigeria ‘s President , Bola  Tinubu has called on Christians and Muslims across the country to promote peace, unity and pray for the nation’s security as the Christian season of Lent and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan commenced  the same day ,  a rare occurrence this year.

 He described the overlap as a reminder that Nigerians share common values and a unified identity under God, urging good neighbourliness and stability as the country marks both observances. 

These were contained in his message to Christians and Muslims on Wednesday in Abuja. He described Lent as a time for fasting, penitence and spiritual reflection.and Ramadan as a hallowed period of fasting, devotion and service to humanity.

According to him, the period was a shared opportunity for Nigerians to strengthen bonds and pray for national progress and peace.

In his  messages too, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, welcomed the dual observance, describing it as an opportunity for charity, empathy and national love.

Similarly, Governors and religious bodies have also emphasised peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and unity as both faiths embark on fasting and spiritual duties.
