Terrorists attack Chibok Community, raze homes , shops

: Panic and destruction swept through Awapul community, Chibok in the early hours of Sunday as suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked the community , set homes and shops ablaze, forcing residents to flee for safety.


The attackers were said to have stormed the village around 1:30 a.m. in large numbers, fired sporadically into the aiir. Witnesses said the gunmen, who arrived on motorcycles, operated for over an hour without immediate resistance.


Confirming the incident, the Borno State Police Command disclosed that although no lives were lost, the destruction was extensive.

Police public relations officer of the Command , ASP Nahum Daso described the attack as one carried out by suspected terrorists, emphasizing that it targeted infrastructure.
Residents painted a more harrowing picture. Many said they woke to the sound of gunfire, scrambling into the darkness as flames engulfed their homes and means of livelihood. Small businesses, a lifeline for the rural community, were reduced to ashes.
“We ran with nothing,” one resident recounted. “Everything we had is gone. Now, people are fleeing to the main town for refuge.”
The latest assault adds to growing insecurity in Borno State, coming barely a day after coordinated attacks on an IDP camp in Damasak and a police facility in Nganzai.
