Enugu state government has reaffirmed commitment to quality delivery across all ongoing projects in the state.
The government gave the re assurance while reacting to a publication by the Sahara reporters on the recent incident of windstorm , a natural disaster that affected some buildings including private buildings, market and one of the Smart Green school in the state.
In a statement signed by the public relations officer of the Enugu state ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Ngozi Ngene and made available to Newsmen on Sunday in Enugu, the ministry said,, it’s attention had been “drawn to a report circulated by Sahara Reporters concerning a recent windstorm incident that affected the roofing of one of the ongoing Smart Green School projects in Enugu State.
“The Ministry considers it necessary to clarify the facts, correct misleading impressions, and reaffirm the Enugu State Government’s commitment to quality delivery across all ongoing projects., Ngene said.
Giving the clarification, the statement reads:
“First, it is important to state clearly that windstorms are natural occurrences, and they are known to cause damage to exposed building components, particularly roofing elements, in different parts of the world. Such incidents are not unusual during periods of extreme weather and do not automatically translate to structural failure.
“Contrary to the impression created in the report, the windstorm did not affect only the Smart Green School project. Several private residential buildings, market shops, trees, and other structures within the same axis were also impacted by the same storm event.
“This clarification is not intended for justification, but to provide factual context and prevent the public from being misled into drawing inaccurate conclusions.

“The Ministry notes with concern the attempt by Sahara Reporters to use an isolated weather-related incident to cast broad doubts over the quality of other ongoing projects in the State. Such generalisation is misleading and does not reflect the facts on ground.
“The Smart Green Schools are being executed under strict engineering supervision and structured quality control procedures. They are not informal projects, and they are not being delivered without oversight.
“It must also be emphasised that the Enugu State Government is currently implementing over 260 projects simultaneously across multiple locations. In large-scale infrastructure delivery, the occurrence of an isolated incident in one location does not diminish the integrity of the broader programme, nor does it invalidate the progress being achieved across the State.
“Immediately the incident was reported, the supervising team moved to the site, assessed the level of damage, and commenced corrective works.
“The Enugu State Government remains committed to quality, accountability, and timely delivery, and will not allow sensational reporting to distort public perception or undermine confidence in projects that are transforming communities.
“The Smart Green Schools remain one of the most ambitious educational infrastructure programmes in Nigeria today, designed to improve learning environments, strengthen educational outcomes, and provide modern facilities for children across Enugu State.
“The public is therefore urged to disregard misleading narratives.
Enugu is building, and Enugu will continue to build”, Ngene stated..
