Enugu State Police Command says it’s operatives have arrested 15 suspects and recovered a firearm, ammunition and suspected hard drugs during a raid on criminal hideouts in Ozalla community, Nkanu West Local Government Area.
Police public relations officer of the command,SP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement made available to Newsmen on Thursday in Enugu said, “The operation, carried out in the early hours of February 16, 2026, was led by operatives of the Crack Tactical Squad following credible intelligence.
” The team stormed identified black spots at the Four Corners area of Ozalla, leading to the arrest of nine males and six females.
Police said two polythene bags containing dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the suspects,” he said

.Ndukwe added that ,” A further search of the area also led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one live cartridge.
According to him, the suspects are currently undergoing screening. He stated that those found not culpable would be released, while those found guilty would be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has directed supervisory officers to sustain proactive operations aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts across the state.
“He also urged residents to support the police with timely and credible information to enhance security in Enugu State,” Ndukwe said..
