Aloy Ejimakor , the lead counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Prince Emmanuel, Kanu’s brother and some other protesters have been reportedly arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian police during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja
In a post on social media platform X,protest Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters ,ex-presidential candidate and organiser of the protest said some arrests have been made
His post reads :
“The @PoliceNG team deployed to brutalize #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protesters arrested Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, and his lawyer, @AloyEjimakor, as well as innocent bystanders. They were beaten and taken to the FCT command. The police must release them immediately!,” he wrote.
Confirming Someone’s post, Kami’s lawyer, Ejimakor wrote on his X handle that he is being detained alongside two others at the Garki command.

“We’ve just been arrested. Myself, Prince Emanuel and others. We are at FCT COMMAND CID. Myself, Fine Boy and others. No 1 Zaria Street, Gariki 2, Abuja”.
This is coming shortly after he posted teargas has been discharged by police at the transcop hilton area where a crowd of protestors have gathered to begin their march demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, since June 2021.
Security operatives have also blocked major roads in the capital, resulting in gridlock.
Some commuters waiting for vehicles to take them to workplaces were teargassed.
