Enugu State Police Command has arrested four suspects and recovered snatched mobile phones, stolen items, and illicit substance following coordinated raids on criminal hideouts within the State.

The Police public relations officer Enugu state police command, SP Daniel Ndukwe ,disclosed that in a statement it made available to Newsmen on Tuesday in Enugu.
According to him, “on 1st March 2026, at about 8:00 p.m., Police Operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch, raided a criminal hideout located along the Holy Ghost Rail Line, where two notorious and habitual theft suspects who specialize in snatching bags and other valuables from unsuspecting members of the public were apprehended.
He said the suspects, Nnachetam Didiugwu (aged 20) and Ogbu Maduabuchi (aged 22), both have no fixed residential address. Four mobile phones (Honour, Vivo, Tecno, and Itel brands) and wraps of suspected cannabis sativa were recovered from them. The suspects have confessed to snatching the phones from unsuspecting passersby, particularly during evening hours.

“In a related development, on 28th February 2026, at about 9:00 a.m., Operatives of the Command attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, while on crime prevention patrol, stormed a criminal hideout at Eke Obinagu, Emene. This resulted in the arrest of one Eze Chukwuemeka (aged 25) and Isiaka Musa (aged 25), as well as the recovery of a large quantity of dried weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa.
“Investigations are ongoing to arrest their accomplices and recover more exhibits, after which the suspects will be arraigned in court.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reiterates the Command’s commitment to sustaining proactive operations aimed at ridding the State of criminal elements and ensuring the safety and security of all residents. He urges citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to promptly provide useful information to the Police, including reporting suspicious persons and criminal activities”, Ndukwe said.
