Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) under the Contributory Pensions Scheme (CPS) Sector in Enugu State, has called on all federal pensioners residing in the state to register with the union to enable them access newly introduced benefits.
The Enugu State Coordinator of the union, Comrade Timothy Oyewande, made the call in Enugu on Saturday in a statement he jointly signed with the Acting Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ngwuoke Ngwuoke, as part of activities marking the union’s seventh anniversary in the state.
Oyewande explained that registration with the state chapter had become necessary for pensioners to benefit from recent reforms introduced under the CPS, including the payment of outstanding pension arrears and improved regularity in pension disbursement.
According to him, one of the major benefits is the introduction of free medical services for federal pensioners earning less than N40,000 monthly. He noted that the health support initiative was introduced through the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) to help retirees address pressing health challenges.
He commended the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that it had positively impacted CPS pensioners across the country.
