Governor of Enugu state, Dr Peter Mbah. has called on Directors and Deputy Directors in the State Civil Service to sustain the wave of disruptive innovation , deepen a culture of result – driven e- governance , aligning with the state government’s policies for effective service delivery.
He made the call on Monday while declaring open a Three-Day workshop for directors and deputy directors in the state civil service, held at the New Presidential hotel , Enugu.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Ifeanyi Ossai, Governor Mbah stressed the need for top management staff to fully internalise emerging policies and reforms aimed at improving service delivery in the State Civil Service.
Speaking on the Theme of the workshop, “Fiscal Stewardship, Strategic Oversight, and Institutional Integrity in the Era of Disruptive Innovation,” Governor Mbah said the changing dynamics of governance require a shift from traditional methods to more innovative, technology-driven approaches.
“We need more of these engagements to deepen your understanding of government and why we must adopt new approaches to achieve better results,” he said.
According to him, “Disruptive innovation and e-governance are about doing things differently—leveraging technology, data, and empirical evidence to drive efficiency and prompt service delivery.”

- He said his administration had already carried out wide-ranging reforms across sectors and urged Directors and Deputy Directors to key into the vision, adding that their understanding and support were critical to communicating government policies effectively to the people.
According to him, the ongoing overhaul of the civil service, anchored on digital transformation, is designed to boost productivity and ensure sustainable growth.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Service, Dr Godwin Anigbo, described the workshop as a strategic tool for actualising Governor Peter Mbah’s administration’s innovation-driven agenda.
He said the state had begun repositioning its civil service into a transparent, agile, and technology-driven institution.
“Through this deliberate digital revolution, we are already witnessing transformative changes in our bureaucratic processes,” Anigbo said.
He commended the state Governor for providing the leadership and tools needed to modernise the system.
Participants at the workshop also lauded the initiative. In her remarks, a Director in the Ministry of Chieftaincy, Robinson Ezea, said the training would enhance productivity and align workers with the government’s economic vision, including plans to significantly grow the state’s GDP.
Similarly, a Director in the Ministry of Justice, Juliet Okonkwo, expressed appreciation for ongoing capacity-building programmes, particularly in e-governance and digital skills, which she said were equipping participants for modern administrative demands.
The workshop which was organised by the Enugu State Government through the Office of the Head of Service in partnership with Citihoms Finance Ltd., brought together experts and stakeholders with the aim of strengthening governance structures in line with global best practices.
