Feast of Christ the King : Bishop Onaga urges Christians to acknowledge Christ as King

Enugu Catholic Diocese, Sunday, joined other Catholic dioceses across the world  to celebrate this year’s feast of Christ the King,, urging Christians to acknowledge Christ as King and live Christ-like like life for a better society.

The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev (Dr) Callistus Onaga made the call in his homily during  the celebration of the feast   held at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu..

Addressing the  congregation comprised of Priests, the Religious and laity from all the  parishes under Enugu deanery, Bishop Onaga said the feast was celebrated simultaneously in the six deaneries that made up the Enugu Diocese.

He thanked God  for His protection  and the growth of the church., saying that God created us, and has  been  protecting us, He said the celebration was done simultaneously in the six deaneries j  Enugu Diocese. Agbani, Nkwo Nike, Udi, Enugu ,Aguobu – Owa It’s Jesus that own all of us.j

Bishop Onaga said the recognition of the Kingship of   Jesus Christ isb in  Matthew 27:7-12.6. 

“Every where in the world Jesus is acknowledged as King. ,” he said.

The Bishop cautioned  those who said Jesus “is  scam'” to stop saying what they  don’t know . According to him, Pope Pius X1 approved the celebration of the Kingship of Jesus .in 1925 and 100 years later, some people came up to say Jesus  is a “scam”

‘”Everywhere in the world,Jesus is celebrated as King.  If you recognise Christ as King, you will not cheat people .

He cautioned businessmen to stop cheating, people you don’t hike the prices of the  items you sell   because of Christmas. No, you reduce the price rather, so that people can  buy and celebrate Christmas .

“God blessed Nigeria, gave us abundant  resources. and some people were enjoying the wealth of the country, alone, which is bad.”, Bishop  Onaga observed.

He cautioned  business men and Women, POS operators to stop cheating their customers and tricycle ( keke) drivers who were agents of kidnapping, those who carry kidnappers to go kidnap people to should stop and do good.

” If everyone does what is right, Nigeria will be good”, he said..
