In a goodwill message, the Commissioner, Prof Sam Ugwu commended the governor for his unwavering commitment to the rapid development of Enugu State, noting that his administration has brought unprecedented progress in infrastructure, environmental sustainability, education, health , agriculture and human capital development.

Prof. Ugwu noted that the governor’s commitment to development also extends strongly to environmental management and sustainability in the state.
According to him, Governor Mbah’s administration has driven a remarkable transformation in the environmental sector through strengthened sanitation policies, improved waste management systems, urban renewal initiatives and aggressive environmental awareness campaigns across communities.
He stated that the government has intensified the evacuation of solid waste across Enugu metropolis and major urban centres, enhanced environmental sanitation enforcement, and introduced innovative measures aimed at promoting a green, cleaner and healthier environment.
Prof Ugwu explained that the administration has also taken decisive steps in erosion control and flood management, protecting communities vulnerable to environmental degradation while ensuring sustainable land use practices.

He added that Governor Mbah’s vision of building a smart and livable city has also led to the expansion of urban greening programmes, beautification of public spaces and stronger collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and relevant agencies to maintain Enugu’s reputation as one of the cleanest states in the country.
He said the Ministry of Environment continues to enjoy the governor’s strong support in policy implementation, capacity building and environmental reforms aimed at safeguarding the ecosystem and improving the quality of life of residents.
The commissioner noted that some of the landmark initiatives of the governor in the education sector is the construction of 260 Smart schools in the 260 political wards of the state, construction 260 farm estates, construction of 260 modern, well-equipped Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across all the political wards in the state to improve access to healthcare.
He also highlighted the construction and near completion of a 300-bed international hospital in Enugu, the Fiv- star hotel, ,
