Enugu State Police Command has released the program of activities to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day, with focus on strengthening trust and collaboration be0tween the police and the public.
The Command said the events, scheduled to begin on March 30, are in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and will be held under the theme “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”
According to a statement made available to Newsmen on Friday in Enugu, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the week-long activities will take place across the State Command Headquarters, Area Commands, and Divisions.
The programme will kick -off on Monday, March 30, with a town hall meeting involving key security stakeholders to discuss strategies for enhancing police-community relations.
On the same day, the Command’s medical team will conduct a free medical outreach at the Police Clinic located at the State Headquarters in GRA, Enugu, targeting members of the public, as well as families of serving and deceased police personnel.
The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, will lead officers in a sanitation exercises across parts of the Enugu metropolis as part of efforts to give back to the community.
Activities will continue on Tuesday, March 31, with a walkathon led by the CP within the metropolis, while Area Commanders will coordinate similar exercises in their respective jurisdictions.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Command will carry out public sensitisation campaigns against electoral violence, ballot snatching, and related offences. Divisional Police Officers will also engage motorists and residents on safe driving practices and adherence to traffic regulations across motor parks and neighbourhoods.
The events will further feature a welfare component on Thursday, April 2, when the CP is expected to present cheques to families of deceased police personnel under the Command.
The grand finale of the celebration is slated for April 7 at Eagle Square, Abuja, where a ceremonial parade and procession will hold.
Speaking on the significance of the celebration, CP Giwa described National Police Day as a vital opportunity to build stronger ties with the public and enhance mutual trust. He urged residents of Enugu State to remain law-abiding and support the police in maintaining peace and security.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while upholding the rights and dignity of all citizens.
