President Bola Tinubu Tuesday, met with the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Most Rev( Dr) Ignatius Kaigama, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting followed recent comments by U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened military action against Nigeria over alleged Christian genocide.
The closed-door meeting formed part of the president’s ongoing engagements with religious leaders to promote national unity, peace, and social cohesion.

Although details were not disclosed, discussions were believed to have focused on strengthening interfaith harmony and supporting national development efforts.
In a social media post on Saturday, US President ,Donald Trump directed the U.S. Department of War to prepare for a possible military operation in Nigeria, warning that American aid to Nigeria could be halted if violence against Christians persisted.

In a message shared on his official X handle, Tinubu stressed that the Nigerian Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, noting that his administration has maintained open engagement with leaders of all faiths to strengthen peace and security across the country.
“Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty,” the President said. “Since 2023, our administration has maintained open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike and continues to address security challenges which affect citizens across faiths and regions,” Tinubu said.
