I will justify people’s confidence thru’ people-oriented programmes — Ikeje Asogwa

Senator-elect for Enugu North Senatorial Zone, Ikeje Asogwa, has pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people through people-oriented programmes focused on infrastructure development, healthcare delivery, education and youth empowerment.
He gave the assurance on Monday while reacting to his victory in Saturday’s Enugu North Senatorial Bye-Election, expressing gratitude to voters for their overwhelming support and assuring them of quality representation at the National Assembly.

Asogwa thanked constituents for the confidence they demonstrated through their votes and massive turnout during the election.

“First of all, let me thank our people for the confidence they reposed in me, for their votes and the massive turnout,” he said.
“From the results of the election, you can see that people really turned out massively to support us.”
The senator-elect said his administration would prioritize projects and programmes that directly impact the welfare of the people, stressing that development would be driven by the needs of the communities.
“We have great plans for our people to move our senatorial zone to greater heights,” Asogwa stated.
According to him, critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare and employment generation would receive immediate attention.
“We have a lot of things ranging from infrastructural development, improving the education sector, improving the health sector, creating more employment opportunities for our people, especially the youth.”
He expressed confidence that the promises made during the campaign would be fulfilled within the shortest possible time.
“So we have great plans and definitely we are going to achieve them. We intend to do that as fast as possible,” he assured.
Asogwa also attributed the improved electoral fortunes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State to the visible performance of the current administration, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.
He noted that while the party had previously struggled to secure victories in the state, the situation had changed because people could now see tangible evidence of governance and development.

What has changed is performance. You can see the drastic improvement in the results from what happened in the 2023 elections and what happened last Saturday,” he said.
“The reason is the massive infrastructural development going on all over the state, not just in the senatorial zone. The people have seen that this administration is working tirelessly.”

According to him, development projects spread across communities in the senatorial district convinced voters that government was working in their interest.
“The results are there, very glaring and scattered all over the 102 wards in the senatorial zone,” he said.
“That is what brought about the results you saw on Saturday when people came out massively to vote for the APC.”
The senator-elect reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive representation and pledged to work closely with stakeholders across the district to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community in Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
