Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Giwa, has felicitated Christian faithful on the 2026 Easter celebration, commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, urging Christians to reflect on the virtues of love, sacrifice, humility, and forgiveness exemplified by Christ, and to promote peace, unity, and lawful conduct.
The police public relations officer Enugu police command SP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement made available to Newsmen on Friday in Enugu said, the Commissioner of Police had also ordered the comprehensive deployment of personnel and operational assets across the State to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration. This includes strategic positioning of officers at churches, 5 centres, major highways, motor parks, and other public spaces to deter crime and ensure rapid response to emergencies.
According to him, the Commissioner has further directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Tactical Squads to intensify visibility policing, confidence-building patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and surveillance in collaboration with other security agencies.
The Head of the State Criminal Intelligence Department has also been tasked with strengthening credible and actionable intelligence gathering. The CP warns that no security lapses will be tolerated.
“While assuring residents of adequate security during and beyond the period of the celebration, CP Giwa reiterates the Command’s resolve to deal decisively with criminal elements. He advises road users to obey traffic regulations to prevent avoidable accidents,” Ndukwe said.
