NNPC, Dangote partner to boost Nigeria’s energy , economy

Nigerian National Petroleum Limited NNPCL and the Dangote Group have reaffirmed their strategic partnership to strengthening the country’s energy security and economic prosperity.

The renewed commitment followed a high-level visit by the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and members of the company’s management team to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex located in Ibeju-Lekki.
During the visit, both organisations held extensive discussions and toured the facility, focusing on deepening operational and commercial collaboration.

Central to the talks was the 650,000 barrels-per-day Dangote Refinery, considered one of Africa’s largest single-train refineries and a critical asset in Nigeria’s drive to end fuel importation.

Ojulari commended the President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, for his vision and resilience in delivering the multi-billion-dollar project. He described the alliance as one that would unlock synergies across infrastructure, capital, assets, and markets, while also providing greater transparency in business engagements between both firms.
According to him, the collaboration holds vast opportunities beyond refining, including expansion into upstream investments, crude trading, shipping logistics, and gas supply integration.
The NNPC boss also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policy reforms and investor-friendly initiatives in the oil and gas sector, noting that the administration’s clarity and commitment have created an enabling environment for landmark partnerships.
Speaking on behalf of the Dangote Group, Dangote said the synergy between both organisations would ultimately benefit Nigerians through economies of scale, improved efficiency, and enhanced product availability across markets.

NNPC Ltd currently holds a 7.25 per cent stake in the Dangote Refinery, a move widely regarded as a strategic investment aligned with its downstream growth agenda and Nigeria’s broader goal of achieving domestic refining capacity.
