CP Giwa decorates 352 newly promoted ASPs, urges discipline,professionalism

Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, Wednesday, 18th February 2026, decorated three hundred and fifty-two (352) officers of the Command promoted from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II) by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police.

According to the Police public relations officer of the Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement he made available to Newsmen on Wednesday in Enugu, the officers qualified for the promotion following a recently concluded Departmental Selection Board (DSB) screening exercise conducted at Zone 13 Zonal Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Ukpo, Dunukofia, Anambra State.

Addressing the newly promoted officers during the decoration ceremony held at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess of the Command, CP Giwa congratulated them and charged them to justify their elevation to the rank of a Superior Police Officer through discipline, dedication, and professionalism. He warned that any acts of omission or commission in the discharge of their duties would be treated seriously.

He reminded them that they are required to successfully complete a two-year probationary period with unblemished records before their promotion is confirmed to the substantive rank of ASP..

In a vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Abuchi Ugwuagu thanked the Inspector-General of Police for recommending them and the Police Service Commission for approving their promotion. He assured the Police leadership of their commitment to live up to expectations and to discharge their duties diligently.

Among the newly promoted ASPs are Augustine Michael, the Commissioner of Police’s official driver; Chukwu Sunday of the State CID; and Sylvester Anamali, Pius Umushike, and Akuabata Nnamchi of the Police Public Relations Department.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Command’s Management Team, Divisional Police Officers, other senior officers, as well as spouses, family members, and friends of the newly promoted officers.
