Recently, the United States Consulate Lagos, led by Public Affairs Officer ,Jie Mckay hosted a strategic working lunch with Enugu-based creatives to examine practical pathways for advancing the creative industry as a viable engine for youth employment and economic growth.
Key discussions focused on content creation, fashion, and strengthening synergies between the Enugu State Government and the creative ecosystem to unlock scalable opportunities for young people—particularly youth supported through the Enugu SME Center (Enugu MSME & Startup Agency) Participants explored how structured support, skills development, production infrastructure, and market access can transform creative talent into sustainable livelihoods.

A major area of interest was fashion, especially the role of initiatives such as the Enugu Fashion and Garment Hub in driving large-scale job creation, nurturing local designers, enabling garment manufacturing, and positioning Enugu as a competitive creative production centre.
The engagement aligned with the vision of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to unlock the creative economy as a pillar for inclusive growth, reinforcing a shared commitment to collaboration, capacity building, and partnerships that translate creativity into enterprise, jobs, and long-term economic value for Enugu’s youth.
