NUJ lauds Gov Mbah’s political integration , urges him to ensure benefits

Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, Enugu state Council has commended the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, on his integration into the mainstream of national politics through his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC)

The council , while congratulating him, urged him to ensure that the new political alignment translates into tangible benefits and greater development for the people of Enugu State.

The union made the call at the end of its October Congress held on Thursday at the RT. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi NUJ Press center,Enugu.

The Council in it’s 5-Point communique signed by comrades Wilfred Chukwuma, Michael Nwatu and Kelechi Ekeledo and made available to newsmen in Enugu on Friday, ,also reiterated the call on the Enugu State Government to review the operations of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) officials across the state.

It further recommended that refresher trainings be organized for the personnel to enhance professionalism and improve their interface with the public.

The Council on the implementation of awarded projects, appealed to the State Government to revisit ongoing and awarded projects, particularly the 141 road projects flagged off in March this year with a stated completion timeline of three months.

The Congress also urged the government to expedite action to ensure timely and quality delivery of these critical infrastructure projects.

    On Smart schools’ enrollment, the council urged the Government to conduct a thorough investigation into the processes of student enrolment in Smart Schools across the state, to ensure transparency, fairness, and alignment with the goals of the initiative.

    On curbing multiple tasks forces and enforcement team, the Congress called on the Government to look into the proliferation of various task forces and enforcement agencies in the state that allegedly extort money from residents and business operators under different guises.

    The Council emphasized the need to harmonize and regulate these bodies to restore pu blic order and sanity.
