Adeleke summons security chiefs over cult -related killings

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, will pm Wednesday , September 7,2026, meet with heads of security agencies in the state over the recent surge in violent crimes, particularly killings linked to rival cult groups.
The meeting will focus on measures to end the cult-related violence and strengthen security across the state.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Samuel Ojo, disclosed this in an interview, saying the administration was determined to reassure residents and put security agencies on heightened alert.
Ojo said the meeting would also address the security of forests in the state, following the recent killing of an ISWAP leader in Owo, Ondo State.

He warned criminals using forests as hideouts that the government would not tolerate such activities, stressing that the recent incidents in Ondo should serve as a warning to those harbouring criminals.
According to him, the government was particularly concerned about the incessant clashes between rival cult groups in Osogbo, the state capital, which had resulted in deaths and injuries.

Two separate cult-related attacks recorded in Osogbo between Friday and Sunday left two people dead and about five others injured.
Ojo said the government was determined to stop the violence to protect the image of the state, warning perpetrators of violent crimes to desist or face severe consequences.
Following the latest attacks, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, ordered tactical teams to raid suspected criminal hideouts in Osogbo.
